Our community mourns a tragic loss of a member, Amanda Maloney, who was killed on March 29th, 2025 while trying to navigate a dangerous turn on Hwy 138. Amanda left behind her 2 daughters (5 and 7). She was well known by many, volunteered her time for the community, and was an amazing business owner running the local bakery. This incident has highlighted the pressing need to enhance safety measures on this unsafe highway. The absence of adequate turning lanes, 2-lane traffic, combined with poor lighting conditions makes driving particularly hazardous on this highway. According to MTO statistics, there were 44 collisions in 2022 reported on Highway 138 and many more have been reported, petitions have been signed previously before asking for this! CBC 138 Accidents . For a community such as ours, we must not turn a blind eye to such a devastating tragedy. We call upon local authorities to urgently add more turning lanes, traffic cycles, traffic lights and improve lighting on Hwy 138. This is not just a road improvement project, it's a life-saving mission. Please lend your support by signing this petition to prevent similar regrettable incidents from happening in our community.
