We are asking the Georgia Department of Transportation and Coweta County Government to urgently evaluate the intersection of Highway 16 and Macedonia Road in Coweta County for major safety improvements before another serious accident occurs.

This intersection is already dangerous for drivers and local families who travel through it every day.

Some of the major concerns include:

*Very high speeds along Highway 16, including frequent tractor trailer traffic
*Shortened turning lanes into Macedonia Road near the new convenience store, creating congestion and unsafe turning conditions
*Two separate turning lanes from Macedonia Road onto Highway 16, and two turning lanes from 16 onto Macedonia requiring drivers to merge into fast-moving traffic under difficult conditions
*A hill near the intersection that partially limits visibility and reduces reaction time, especially at higher speeds
*An elementary school located less than a mile away, increasing traffic during school drop-off and pick-up hours
*A recently approved data center nearby that is expected to bring significant construction traffic, heavy equipment, and long-term increases in vehicle volume

Many residents have already experienced close calls and near misses at this intersection. Conditions are difficult now, and the upcoming growth in the area is expected to make traffic and safety concerns even worse.

We are respectfully requesting that GDOT and Coweta County:

Conduct a traffic engineering safety study at Hwy 16 & Macedonia Rd
Evaluate the need for a traffic signal, multi-way stop, or roundabout
Review turning lane design, visibility concerns, and traffic flow
Address current safety issues before additional development increases the danger further
This is not just about convenience — it is about preventing serious accidents and protecting the safety of local families, students, commuters, and drivers traveling through this area every day.
