I, like many of my friends and neighbours, live in constant uncertainty in our close-knit communities of Sparkbrook, Sheffield, and Alum Rock. This fear is not idle. I have personally almost been robbed, while my friends have been robbed of their bikes. We have seen first-hand the escalating incidents of theft and crime. The safety and peace of our communities are under threat, and immediate action is needed. 

Our communities have unique characters and cultures that deserve protection, not the constant menace of crime. Statistics reveal that the crime rates in these areas, especially incidents of robbery, are notably high. For instance, in Sheffield alone, there were over 11,334 reported cases of theft and robbery in 2020 (source: UKCrimeStats).

We cannot stand by while our communities are exposed to such risks. A community should be a safe haven for its residents - a place where we can live, thrive, and grow without fear. I urge our local authorities to initiate comprehensive crime prevention programs, improve the local policing strategy, and create safer environments for all residents.

We, the people of Sparkbrook, Sheffield, and Alum Rock, deserve better. We deserve safety, security, and the peace of mind to live without dread.
