As a resident of Abell Road in Marsden Park, I've witnessed firsthand the alarming and dangerous conditions on our road due to excess speeding. Even though the posted speed limit is 50 km per hour, drivers frequently exceed this limit, turning our road into a hazard for everyone. The frequency of accidents is concerning and poses significant risks not just to the drivers, but to us, the residents.

Living on Abell Road means facing daily challenges; merely pulling out of our driveways has become a daunting task, as vehicles speed past with little regard for those attempting to enter the road. The absence of driver courtesy, where oncoming traffic fails to slow down or give way, exacerbates the danger. For those of us who wish to cross the street, it's nearly impossible due to the constant flow of speeding traffic.

This road is also a path frequented by students heading to and from school, making the situation even more perilous. The risks imposed by speeding vehicles are unacceptable and increase the likelihood of tragic accidents.

We urgently need intervention to improve road safety on Abell Road. Installing speed cameras, enforcing stricter penalties for speeding, and holding driver-awareness campaigns in the community can make a significant difference. Furthermore, implementing traffic-calming measures such as speed bumps or better pedestrian crossings would enhance safety for everyone, especially vulnerable pedestrians.
