Improve Plattsburgh City Beach Dog Park With Water Fountains for Our Canine Friends

The Issue

As committed dog owners and frequent users of our local City Beach dog park, we have come to greatly love this park, it's become an extension of our homes. Many of us in the local community have been in the habit of bringing fresh water in large containers for our furry companions, even going as far as bringing water for dogs belonging to others. This routine, albeit full of goodwill, needs to change to promote further usefulness and convenience.

By having water fountains installed in the park, we can ensure that our dogs always have access to fresh, clean water, especially during warm summers when they need to stay hydrated the most. This also presents an opportunity for our dogs to drink freely and safely play, while fostering an inviting space for both dogs and their humans.

Safety: Water fountains are a safer alternative to bowls or buckets of standing water, which can be unsanitary and spread disease.

Health: Water fountains can help prevent heat-related issues in dogs.

Convenience: Water fountains are convenient for both dogs and their owners.

Community: Water fountains can foster a welcoming space for community engagement.

Moreover, this initiative can greatly cut down plastic usage in our community, thereby positively affecting our environment. Around 38 million water bottles go to waste each day in America alone (source: Container Recycling Institute), and we have the responsibility to prevent our contribution to this figure.

We urge the city to take into account our simple request, which would drastically improve the lives of our four-legged friends and make our local dog park a cozier and more versatile space. We kindly ask for your support in this matter and urge you to sign this petition, thereby contributing to a more sustainable and friendly environment for all of us.
