I am a resident of Kelana Jaya, SS7, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. Every day, I see fellow pedestrians risk their lives to cross the road near the Kelana Mahkota Condo and the junctions of SS7/19 & SS7/26. The lack of a proper pedestrian crossing means people often cross in dangerous situations, facing fast-moving vehicles with little protection. 

Research shows that pedestrian crossings decrease pedestrian-related accidents and injuries significantly. Based on a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the US, pedestrian crossings reduce pedestrian crashes by 39 percent (NHTSA, Traffic Safety Facts 2018 Data: Pedestrians). Although this research wasn't conducted in Malaysia, it highlights the global significance and necessity of proper pedestrian crossings.

We urge the local council to address this critical safety issue promptly, not only for the residents of Kelana Mahkota Condo, but also for all pedestrians in our community. This step would undoubtedly make our local area safer for everyone who walks, runs, or jogs in our neighborhood.
