The Issue

As a local community member and a mum who regularly walks through Sun Arch with my children, I am concerned about pedestrian safety along this route.

The pavement through Sun Arch becomes extremely narrow, bringing pedestrians very close to passing traffic. When walking through with children, there are points where there simply isn’t enough room to comfortably walk alongside them, meaning we have to walk single file.

Sun Arch is a well used pedestrian route in Romsey, used by families, children and other members of our community. We believe the current layout deserves a proper safety assessment.

We are asking Hampshire County Council to assess the risks to pedestrians at Sun Arch and determine what appropriate safety measures could be introduced. We are not prescribing a particular solution - we believe that should be determined by the appropriate professionals following an assessment of the location.

If you share our concerns about pedestrian safety at Sun Arch, please support this petition and help us ask Hampshire County Council to properly assess the issue.
