The Issue

Individuals with disabilities living in Metro Atlanta urge MARTA, the Atlanta Mayor's Office, and the Georgia Department of Transportation to address critical failures in Marta Mobility's paratransit services within Metro Atlanta. Riders consistently face significant delays, excessively long journeys, and an inefficient scheduling system. Unreliable punctuality, with frequent late arrivals and no-shows, severely disrupts the lives of individuals with disabilities. Compounding these issues is a lack of clear communication regarding ride status, inadequate complaint resolution processes, and no provision for compensation for service failures. Furthermore, inconsistent application of rules and policies, along with instances of being dropped off prematurely at closed establishments, compromises rider safety.

To rectify these unacceptable conditions, we call for the implementation of the following changes: a transparent and efficient scheduling system, improved real-time communication regarding ride status, reliable on-time service, a clear and fair complaint resolution process with avenues for appropriate compensation, consistent application of all service rules and policies, and a commitment to rider safety that includes ensuring drop-offs occur only at open and safe locations. We demand immediate action to improve the reliability, efficiency, fairness, punctuality, communication, safety, complaint resolution, and overall quality of ADA paratransit services, ensuring equitable and dependable transportation for all residents with disabilities in Metro Atlanta.
