The Issue

I am writing this letter due to the fact that there was yet another accident on my corner. There is a combination of 3 things happening here that I have observed throughout the past 3 yrs I have lived in this house.

1. People that are not regularly traveling on Hamilton stop at this intersection thinking it is a 4 way stop sign causing confusion and leading to an accident.

2. People on Linden can't see due to curve in the road causing an accident.

3. People on Hamilton speeding causing an accident.

This is regarding auto to auto accidents. I have also witnessed auto accidents when they have hit pedestrians using the crosswalk. Accidents are most concerning when school is opening or letting out. Regarding this accident today if I didn't go out to do some traffic control I am sure a group of kids would've gotten hit by impatient drivers trying to get around the collision unable to even see the crosswalk or the children on the other side.

If everyone is waiting for something more...something fatal...to happen, I'm sure at some some point it will. However, I do not see the reason to wait when preventative measures are available. Let's work together as a community to improve the safety! Here are some suggestions on how I and my fellow neighbors think we can make a change for the better.

1. At the least a crossing guard during school opening and closing times.

2. A blinking light/ stop sign.

3. A 4 way stop sign

4. A speed hump

5. The most effective...a TRAFFIC LIGHT

The following people from the neighborhood agree to the statements I have made and would like to see to it that something is done! Thank you for listening and HOPEFULLY taking action!
