Update 1: We’ve crossed 3,000 signatures!
A huge thanks to everyone who has supported so far. But this is just the beginning — let’s not lose momentum. We need to reach 10,000 signatures to make sure our voices are too loud to ignore. Please keep sharing!
Update 2: Accountability still missing
In the dedicated WhatsApp group formed with a few Holiday Village Road residents, BBMP and BWSSB officials, and representatives from the MLA’s office, we continue to seek answers around:
1) The reason for ongoing delays
2) The lack of regular updates and communication
3) Whether a protest or hartal is the only option left to be heard
BBMP’s Response:
They state that works like laying DWC pipes and RCC Hume cross ducts are in progress. Due to the narrow road, cross ducts are being laid at night. They’ve coordinated with traffic police to allow one-way diversions and claim the road is motorable. They request cooperation from locals and have committed to instructing agencies to fill potholes immediately.
Our Rebuttal:
- If the project duration is 11 months, why was it communicated as 3 months in front of MLA sir?
- This misrepresentation has caused confusion and raised concerns about transparency.
- We request clarity on this issue — was it a miscommunication, or has the timeline changed?
- 1–2 accidents per week continue due to poor road conditions
- Alternate road was promised before work began — still no progress
- "11-month timeline" for 2 km seems excessive without a project breakdown and without clear milestones shows lack of planning
If 11 months are truly needed, we request:
- Tar non-active stretches to improve drivability
- Regular pothole patching and monitoring
- Make arrangements for motorable alternate roads
- Site visits by officials to assess actual conditions
- Weekly/fortnightly public update meetings with residents
Update 3: Finally, some positive news
Bescom has repaired 4-5 street lights yesterday — a small but meaningful step. Let’s appreciate and encourage more such action.
