On March 20th, 2025, life took a tragic turn for my family and me. My 6-year old son, Cameron Paul Epp, lost his life in a car accident in Turon, Ks, a heartbreaking incident that should never have resulted in a fatality. A guardrail, in place to protect drivers, instead became a weapon of destruction. Instead of crumpling or steering the truck, it penetrated the floorboard, ejecting my son from the vehicle. His was not just a faceless statistic but a bright spark lost due to faulty infrastructure.

Shockingly, incidents like this are not as rare as they should be. Many lives have been mercilessly taken away due to faulty, outdated, or insufficient guardrails. This underscores a systemic failing in our transportation safety measures that requires immediate attention and action.

Our objective is simple – ensure that no other family experiences the unspeakable pain and loss that we have endured. We request lawmakers to mandate and enforce the update and maintenance of guardrails, adopting the best international standards for road safety.
