Fishing nets are among the greatest threats to sea turtles worldwide, with hundreds of thousands of turtles unintentionally caught by all kinds of fishing nets every year. WWF partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and scientist Jesse Senko to address this bycatch problem. They designed the first solar-powered LED fishing net to reduce the bycatch on sea turtles and help the population recover. However, many people are still unaware of this new design, which means our sea turtles are still being caught by fishing nets.
