The Issue

Facebook (Meta) plays an essential role in the lives of millions of people and businesses. Many rely on the platform to manage customers, advertising, communities and years of business relationships.

My Facebook account was recently disabled because the name on my account included a previous surname, while my government identification reflects my current legal name. Although I am willing to verify my identity, I have had no meaningful opportunity to speak with a person or explain what appears to be a genuine mistake.

I fully support Facebook taking action against fake accounts, scams and those who violate its Community Standards. Protecting users is important.

However, when there is uncertainty, an identity mismatch or the possibility of an error, automated systems should not be the final decision.

We are asking Facebook (Meta) to introduce:

A human review before permanently disabling an account.
A dedicated case manager for complex identity or account integrity cases.
A clear explanation of why an account was disabled.
A fair opportunity to submit identity documents or supporting evidence before permanent removal.
Businesses can spend years building communities, advertising accounts and client relationships. Losing access without meaningful human review can have significant personal and financial consequences.

This petition is not about weakening Facebook's standards. It is about ensuring that genuine users have access to a fair, transparent and human review process when mistakes happen.

If you believe every genuine user deserves a fair opportunity to verify their identity, please sign this petition.
