The Issue

We are students from South Island School in Hong Kong, for our global perspectives group project, we decided to make a difference for dogs lives in Hong Kong as many of them are treated poorly. As we read more into it, we learned more about the different issues that dogs face in Hong Kong. One of the greater issues is puppy mills. We hope we can allow more people around the world to become aware of this issue.

Many dogs are victims to puppy mills.  Many of the puppies in pet shops are puppies from puppy mills. The parents of the puppy may have been used for breeding since it was very young and has been constantly breeding with no rest.

Diseases from puppy mills can include : Epilepsy, Heart disease, Kidney disease, Musculoskeletal disorders (hip dysplasia, luxating patellas, etc.), Endocrine disorders (diabetes, hyperthyroidism), Blood disorders (anemia, Von Willebrand disease), Deafness, Eye problems (cataracts, glaucoma, progressive retinal atrophy, etc.) and many others.

By signing the petition you would be agreeing to be responsible and humane to stray dogs and when thinking of buying a dog, you will choose to adopt or buy from a responsible breeder.
