Improve County Dumpster Maintenance and Services

The Issue

Our county dumpsters have become more than just a peripheral issue, they've morphed into an aggravating constant problem - an absolute mess to be precise. Filled to the brim, waste scattered around, with no mindful management in sight, they depict a sorrowful picture of negligence.
As residents, we place our trust in the county commissioners and waste management companies to take care of these essential public services. However, this trust is seemingly being taken for granted. The maintenance and regular clean-ups of our dumpsters which should be a routine, is sadly, more of an exception. Not only does this uncontrolled mess impact the aesthetics of our county, but it also has severe environmental and health implications. We've observed vermin and pests being attracted to these sites, posing a danger to our ecosystem, and more alarmingly, to our health. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, poor solid waste management can lead to respiratory issues, and sometimes fatal diseases like cholera or malaria.
The problem of mismanaged waste is not just a local concern but a global one, as the World Bank reports that the world generates 2.01 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste annually, with at least 33% of that—extremely conservatively—not managed in an environmentally safe manner. Despite such alarming statistics, our county seems reluctant to address this issue with the urgency it demands.
Thus, we call upon our county commissioners and the waste management company to step-up their dumpster management efforts, keep our surroundings clean, and help protect our environment and public health. Prioritise sanitation and hygiene by ensuring our dumpsters and dumpster-sites are well maintained and cleaned out regularly.
Please sign and share this petition. Let's voice our concerns loud and clear, that our health, our environment, and our county deserve better.
