I, a resident of Atoka County, am deeply pained by the current state of our animals at the local shelter. These dogs and cats, who are desperate for a loving home, are enduring harsh conditions in an inadequate facility. They are confined to a small, metal building with no access to heating or air conditioning systems, which is far from humane.

During our scorching summers where temperatures exceed 100 degrees, these animals are left to suffer the unbearable heat. In winter, when the temperatures plunge to freezing, they are forced to shiver in the cold.  As a community, we have always worked together to support our most vulnerable. Today, these helpless animals fit that description and need our immediate collective action.

The situation cannot continue as it is. They deserve more. It is therefore urgent and crucial for us to seek better conditions for them at the Atoka County Animal Shelter. We need adequate funding for proper heat and air conditioning systems for the shelter to protect these animals from harsh weather conditions. In addition, there is a need for a more substantial budget dedicated for a better living environment, capable of instilling a sense of comfort and security amongst these vulnerable beings.

We call upon the local authorities of Atoka County to take immediate action.
