Improve awareness of Tattoo Inks and Tattoo health regulations in Singapore

The Issue

To whom it may concern,

We, Thousand Words Tattoo, a Singapore-based Tattoo studio are concerned about the safety of tattoo ink used in our industry, and we believe that the public needs to be aware of the importance of Reach Compliance Tattoo inks.

Currently, we do not have many health regulations in Singapore's tattoo industry. Perhaps one of the reasons is the deterrence of tattoos as it is seen as taboo in the society and workforce. However, based on a recent public survey by YouGov, it is said that 1 out of 10 Singaporeans has a tattoo. With the rising trend of small tattoos that are easily hidden under clothing, there would be a higher appeal, especially for the younger generations.

It is critical that the public is made aware of the importance of using Reach Compliance Tattoo inks. This will help to reduce the risk of adverse health effects from tattooing and ensure that the industry continues to be seen as safe and responsible.

Research is still ongoing and more tattoo inks are being banned and others are reintroduced. Advocating these inks in the tattooing process can help to ensure that harmful chemicals and heavy metals are not introduced into the body, reducing the risk of health complications and ensuring safe and responsible practice.

Therefore, we urge tattoo artists, our Singaporean consumers and those with loved ones with tattoos to share the awareness of Reach Compliance Tattoo inks exclusively, and we call on regulators to mandate the use of these safe and reliable inks in the tattoo industry. We believe that by doing so, we can protect the health and well-being of the public and further promote the safe and responsible practice of tattooing.

Furthermore, Reach Compliance Tattoo inks have been individually tested and certified by independent laboratories to ensure they meet the highest safety standards. Certification includes testing for heavy metals, PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), and other toxic substances. This rigorous testing ensures that the ink is free from potentially harmful contaminants, ensuring its safety for use in tattooing set forth by the European Union. We hope to see that in Singapore soon
