The Issue

The situation of stray cats and dogs at Indraprastha College, part of Delhi University, is heartbreaking and demands immediate attention. These innocent animals are facing neglect in regards to their basic needs such as proper nourishment and regular health checkups. Such conditions are a blight on the humane values we hold dear and reflect poorly on our community's compassion.

At the moment, these animals are often left to scavenge for food in trash cans, leading to malnutrition and other serious health issues. Lack of regular veterinary check-ups means that ailments or injuries, which can otherwise be easily treated or prevented, are often left to worsen, causing unnecessary suffering. It is not just a matter of animal welfare but also public health, as unvaccinated and unhealthy animals can pose risks to humans.

Indraprastha College has the potential to become a model for universities worldwide by adopting responsible and compassionate strategies to care for these animals.

One possible solution is to create an organized feeding program and ensure regular health checks with the collaboration of local vets and animal welfare organizations. This initiative would not only dramatically improve the lives of these animals but also enhance the environment on campus.

We urge the administration of Indraprastha College and the responsible authorities in Delhi University to prioritize the development and support of a comprehensive animal welfare program. By signing this petition, you can help make a change in favor of these neglected animals. Let's stand together to usher in a new era of compassion and responsibility towards the animals sharing our academic spaces.
