NM State Road 475 is the only road to several trailheads in the Santa Fe National Forest and the Ski Basin. Please consider signing this petition to help reduce the use of single occupancy vehicles during peak seasons and improve safe accessibility to these areas of recreation. We are asking for change to the current situation and urge the NMDoT, Ski Santa Fe, Santa Fe National Forest, Senator Peter Wirth, and RTD Blue Bus to work together to make the following initial changes.

1. Increase the RTD Blue Bus schedule.
2. Place an electronic sign at the bottom of NM-475 to fulfill the following purposes: A) inform recreationists when the Ski Santa Fe parking lot is full, B) notice of wrecks or emergencies, and C) flashing lights indicating when 4WD, AWD and snow tires, or chains are highly recommended.
3. Initiate the process to pass a state traction law for NM-475, which will only be enforced in icy weather.
4. Adopt and promote the use of a ride sharing application that will allow recreationists to share, schedule, and track legitimate free rides to and from the Santa Fe National Forest during all seasons. Encourage the use of this phone app by offering incentives to those who carpool.
