Improve Accessibility and Quality of Indoor Gyms for Youth

Improve Accessibility and Quality of Indoor Gyms for Youth
The Issue
I am speaking from personal experience as someone whose life was positively impacted by basketball. I have seen firsthand how access to sports can help enlightenment and create better individuals. Thus, I'm urging our local government and relevant stakeholders to prioritize establishing better and more accessible indoor gyms.
More than just structures, these indoor gyms will serve as havens for local youth to pursue their interest in sports, acquire critical life skills, and steer clear of detrimental habits. According to Aspen Institute, young people who participate in sports are 27% less likely to use illegal drugs, and they tend to have 40% higher test scores than those who don't. The direction obtained from sports allows these kids to make better life choices.
Now more than ever, our community needs a remedy to combat the rising tide of substance use and academic underperformance. Increased access to sports through the provision of these gyms can act as this much needed panacea.
In conclusion, let us mobilize and call for improved accessibility and quality of our indoor gyms, subsequently securing a brighter future for our youth. Join me in signing this petition and help bring a transformative change that our community so desperately needs.
