IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY AND ASSISTANCE / BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED

The Issue

Description of Petition

This petition is being implemented to provide the blind/visually
impaired community equal access to the marketplace and media spaces to be on par with their sighted counterparts.

Who is impacted?

The blind/visually impaired community are severely impacted with the lack of accessibility to gain the same information as the sighted
consumer. With the implementation of the digital age and the swift
changed in commerce, advertising and QRC codes being implemented, many manufacturers, directors, casting agents, managers, quality control officers as well as a host of other visual arenas leave the blind/visually impaired community being last, least, looked over and left behind.

What is at stake?

On a micro scale, the blind/visually impaired community are at stake. On a macro level both the domestic and global market is affected. In just one arena such as commercial advertising, visually there are thousands of advertisements that have only music and no words. This instantly leaves out a niche population of the blind/visually impaired.
Without this niche consumer who has the discretionary funds from a
guaranteed Governmental source, some of these products/services may not be as successful. The blind/visually impaired consumer contributes a significant amount in the domestic economy and should have a fair opportunity of being included in the conversation.

Why is now the time to act?

The time to act is ever constant at any given time. Now is always the
right time to act as everyone comes to change at a different time. As the marketplace becomes more and more narrow the need to act will always be present. Sight is one of the major sensory factors for all humans, navigating without it makes the time to act a constant.
