Being a warrior is not just a choice—it's a necessity for those of us battling multiple rare diseases daily. I know firsthand the struggle of trying to remain strong for my kids while navigating the complexities of our healthcare system. From struggling to afford essential treatments like Botox for migraines and cervical dystonia, IVIG for one in a million Stiff Person Syndrome, pain control for the burning pain of the most painful disease Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome  to delaying necessary surgeries from the damage of having Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, many of us face impossible choices that jeopardize our health and well-being.

Our healthcare system must do better for those who fight silently against rare diseases. The burden of affordability and access to treatment creates barriers that prevent us from living the life we deserve. When people like me have to postpone crucial medical procedures due to financial constraints, the system is failing us. My nurse reminded me that my purpose is to use my voice for those who can't. We need better support, affordable treatments, and greater accessibility for individuals with chronic illnesses.
