My life took a devastating turn when I was wrongfully accused of rape. The repercussions persist as it has tremendously impacted my mental health, causing episodes of severe anxiety and depression. I am haunted daily by these accusations and no amount of therapy or counseling will ever change that. I find it increasingly challenging to establish new relationships due to the fear and trauma that that I face daily.

The harrowing situation I am facing should not happen to anyone else. Therefore, I am advocating for mandatory severe penalties for those who make false allegations of sexual assault. This petition is targeting the need for stricter laws to protect victims of false claims. It is not designed to undermine legitimate victims of sexual assault, but to ensure that every accusation is fact-based and truthful, thus protecting the innocent.

Several studies indicate that false allegations do occur. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, about 2-10% of rape allegations are found to be false, contaminating the legal process and damaging innocent lives, which calls for serious attention.

I hope that our justice system will take prompt action to prevent another individual from sustaining the negative impacts of false claims. Everyone, regardless of their gender or status, deserves the assurance of justice served truthfully and accurately.
