As the founder of an exotic animal sanctuary, I am witnesses to the cruel impact of the illegal wildlife trafficking crisis. The ruthless slaughter of entire primate troops for the abduction of their non-consenting, innocent babies is a heinous reality that needs immediate action. These abducted babies are concealed in inhumane conditions, smuggled into our country, and sold to illegal brokers that disregard their care. Their suffering continues as they are sold to unqualified individuals who often exploit these animals. Primates, an endangered species, are at the forefront of this alarming issue. Impromptu and stringent legislation is needed to combat this crisis. Shockingly, every year, the illegal wildlife trade is worth approximately 20 billion dollars, with millions of animals being snatched from their natural habitat. (Source: World Economic Forum).
