Impose Mandatory "No-Kill" Policy for All Animal Shelters

The Issue

Everyday, houses of compassion like animal shelters care for thousands of animals, offering them love and safety while they wait for their forever homes. Alarmingly, regardless of their potential to be beneficial companions, a significant proportion of these animals are euthanized because of space and resource constraints. According to a report by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 670,000 shelter dogs and 860,000 shelter cats are euthanized annually in the United States alone. This petition proposes to enact a law, requiring all animal shelters to transition into "no-kill" shelters. "No-kill" doesn't imply that no animals will be euthanized, but rather, that euthanasia will be the last resort for terminally sick animals or those exhibiting dangerous behavior. A no-kill policy would drastically decrease the number of healthy and treatable animals being euthanized, giving them the chance they deserve to live and love. It's high time we raise our voices for those who cannot speak for themselves. Sign this petition to demand a mandatory "no-kill" policy for all animal shelters across the nation.
