Impose Commercial Registration & Training for Hyperlocal Delivery Two Wheelers

Impose Commercial Registration & Training for Hyperlocal Delivery Two Wheelers
The Issue
Like many drivers, I have personally experienced multiple near misses on the roads due to the unequipped and untrained hyperlocal bike delivery personnel. These young bikers often lack essential safety training that is crucial to preventing accidents on our roads. As a serious concern that transcends personal safety to become a public safety issue, commercial training should be mandated for all hyperlocal delivery bikers.
In our country, the four-wheelers used for commercial delivery are required to register under the commercial vehicles act and their vehicles are designated with yellow number plates. But such regulation is absent for two wheelers, endangering everyone on the road. A study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicated that traffic injuries and fatalities involving two-wheelers have increased over the years. Commercial training could significantly contribute to mitigating these risks.
By requiring hyperlocal delivery companies to register under the commercial vehicles act, it will ensure these young riders are professionally trained to cope with various on-road scenarios, much as their counterparts in four-wheel delivery vehicles are required to do so. This will not only help improve their own safety but also contribute to safer roads for all users.
Please join me in signing this petition. Let's together press for commercial registration and training for all hyperlocal delivery bikers and turn our roads into a safer place for everyone to travel.
