However, these efforts have yet to yield any tangible results, primarily because of resistance from our predominantly mature politicians.
This petition calls for a voter imposed age limit of 60 on congressional candidates as a necessary interim measure. While we encourage and respect experience and wisdom, we also recognize the need for dynamism, agility, and innovative ideas that often arise from newer generations. Therefore, we advocate for voters to refrain from electing candidates over the age of 60 until an official policy imposing a limit of two six-year terms for the US Senate and six two-year terms for the House of Representatives is enshrined in the US Constitution.
Statistics show that over half of the current members of Congress are over the age of 60, which does not adequately reflect the diverse age demographics of the United States.
