The individual at the heart of this petition is Graham Donovan, a name all too familiar to myself and many within our community due to his cruel and inhumane treatment of animals. A video surfaced online recently showing him harming a cat which, due to the collective efforts of the SPCA, RCMP and our community, was fortunately rescued from his possession.

But the story does not end there. Donovan has had multiple cats, three to be precise, within the past three years. All of these innocent animals have died prematurely. There is a chilling trend of abuse, neglect, and pain associated with Donovan's possession of pets. Numerous accounts of alleged abuse circulate within the community, however, due to a lack of indisputable evidence, nothing substantial has ever been done to permanently remove animals from Donovan's possession. These cats have suffered unimaginable distress and pain throughout their tragically short lives.

There is a cruel irony in the fact that pets, creatures known to bring joy, comfort, and companionship, are instead subjected to torture and harm at the hands of Donovan. We believe that it is high time this abuse came to a stop, we simply cannot stand by while more animals suffer.

We therefore urge the relevant authorities to impose a lifetime ban on Graham Donovan from owning any pets. This is the only sure way to protect future pets from harm in Donovan's custody. Let his name be a testament to all that pets are not tools to be mistreated, but creatures deserving kindness, compassion, and respect.
