Hi, we are a group of artists, currently working on the project dedicated to Russo-Ukrainian war. Please sign up a petition for full embargo on Russian energy supplies and implementation of secondary sanctions against the countries that take advantage of the tragedy.
The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than 8 months. Military mobilization in Russia and nuclear blackmail have shown that president Putin will pursue his imperial ambitions at any cost.
Right now, millions of Ukrainians in the occupied territories are facing horrendous hardships, left without shelter, food, water, and medical care, while Russia's income from energy exports continues to grow.
The death toll in Ukraine is already in the hundreds of thousands. According to the statistics of the Illichivsk morgue, in Mariupol alone, 87,000 dead were documented, as well as about 27,000 unidentified bodies.
As long as president Putin has the resources, the war will not end.
Exports of fossil fuels are the main foundation of the Russian economy.
According to The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), in the 6 months since the start of the war, Russia's revenues amounted to 158 billion euros, while military spending is estimated at only 100 billion. The EU was the largest importer of Russian energy resources (85 billion euros).
While Europe strives to reduce purchases, major importers like India, China, etc are taking advantage of the situation by buying Russian energy supplies at a reduced price.
Continued purchase of Russian energy turns into blood and destruction on the streets of Ukrainian cities. Sanctions haven’t prevented the escalation of the conflict to full mobilization in Russia.
An attempt by president Putin to seize the territory of a sovereign State through terror attacks on civilians and nuclear blackmail should be punished, but not sponsored by the world community.
While the attacks on civilian infrastructure pose risks for Ukrainians to remain without vital resources, nuclear blackmail is a threat to the security and well-being of mankind the world over. No matter how difficult and painful secondary sanctions and the full embargo would be for the global economy, this decision must be taken immediately.
