A Flinders University study found between 50 to 80 per cent of some species' habitat had been destroyed, with two native bee species moved to the endangered list and another nine marked vulnerable.
PhD candidate James Dorey said the findings were shocking.
"It's shocking because this is caused by just a single fire event," he said.
"This kind of stuff isn't going to stop happening unless we actually do something about climate change."
About 24 million hectares of Australian land was burnt over several months, with fire predicted to have killed or displaced an estimated 3 billion animals.
Government must join Europe and ban Neonicotinoids says bee campaigner Simon Mulvany
Save the Bees campaign commenced in 2014 to raise awareness of native bees and honeybee exploitation in Australia.
Since its inception, Simon has noticed a shift in messaging surrounding bee conservation.
"After last year's bushfires, we changed our logo to the native blue banded bee and thousands of people approached us instantly to support it," Mr Mulvany said.
"I have also noticed on social media, when people are talking about bee conservation, it's majority about Australian native bees.
"It makes sense, using indigenous bees as an example when talking about climate change as indigenous bees are more susceptible to environmental shifts unlike honeybees that are more adaptable to change. “
"Unfortunately, governments are beholden to the agricultural sectors that rely on land clearing and pharmaceutical products such as pesticides, which are harmful to all bees including native bees.
“Bee conservation unfortunately does not have the funds to lobby and influence Governments as much as cotton or other broad-acre farming organisations do. “
However, I have no doubt we can make a positive impact on saving bees by encouraging that more of us take part in supporting small-scale localised farming and by people protecting and planting indigenous plants that native bees are accustomed to”
