The 5th lockdown in Victoria had been particularly difficult for my family. 

To get through this time my son Oscar and I have been utilising mediation techniques guided by Paige Harris from AMAVI meditation to get through this difficult time.

Paige recommends these three simple tips to relieving anxiety in the body during these changing times.

1. When breathing breathe into the lower belly, try to keep the chest more still 

2. Extend the exhale out longer than the inhale, this will stimulate a relaxation response

3. Pick a mantra to become a kind of “circuit breaker” when you begin to feel overwhelmed, such as “everything is working out best case scenario”. 

Once you breathe that mantra into the body you will notice you have taken your awareness away from your nervous system becoming overwhelmed and overstimulated.
