Beekeepers Sven and Ana from Amberdrop Honey who have suffered the bushfires , floods and markets being closed because Covid have now suffered another tragedy.

 Sven was hit almost head-on by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel travelling on the opposite direction on the highway.

He called Ana as soon as it happened (finally, the ten years of intensive good-spouse-training is starting to bear fruits), and Ana was able to be there very quickly. After a nerve-racking hour of being trapped in the car, they managed to pull him free and take him to hospital . There they realised his right hip was pretty much in pieces, and they flew him by helicopter (I don't think Sven had this type of helicopter trip in mind when he put it in his bucket list) to Newcastle. An excellent surgeon is put his hip back together now, which looks like a jigsaw puzzle kind of job.
Whilst it looks like Sven has a long road ahead before he can start lifting hives again, we are both aware that he truly got off lightly. Considering the force of the impact, the speed of both cars, and how they looked afterwards, it could have been way worse. Luckily, the German engineering is tough and durable, so we are hoping for a speedy recovery after the surgery.

*the drivers that stopped & helped Sven until the emergency services arrived and then me when I turned up there in a bit of a panic

*the staff at both Port Macquarie & John Hunter hospitals have been UNBELIEVABLE.
