If you are greeted by this situation please contact a beekeeper immediately. Honeybees send out scouts to find homes. In residential settings the scouts often find gaps in roofs , walls , possum boxes , compost bins , tree hollows, irrigation and electricity pits. My own Shire morningtonpenisula have disappointed me this year. They are telling residents to ignore swarms and they will fly away. This is true but they fly into residents walls often behind bricks and quite often exterminated at a cost. A pest controller this week told me he exterminated 15 hives in a day at $200 each. If you are a beekeeper in a residential setting it is wise you attempt to preempt the Swarm by splitting the hive. Always have a spare hive or at least a cardboard box to put the bees in temporarily if your bees do Swarm. Swarms are celebrated in other cultures a sign of fertility, spring and abundance. They are a great way to start beekeeping or increase hive numbers. We are not honouring bees if we allow them to be exterminated. savethebees by contacting your local beekeeper at www.swarmpatrol.com Try to buy honey of a beekeeper that also saves swarms from extermination. You can find your local beekeeper on the honey map. https://goo.gl/E9BjH9
