Petition updateImported Honey to be banned ...Sinister insecticide legislation.

The Victorian Government want to change legislation so they have the power to spray insecticide without community consent under a hypothesis that mosquitoes are a potential vector for disease.

This is urgent and worrying news.

Thanks to the Andrews government, what was an issue for the people of the Mornington Peninsula is now officially an issue for the people of the State of Victoria. This is now about the government moving the goal posts to suit themselves as they want to dictate the environment we live in by changing legislation which affects the air we breath.

Yesterday the Victorian Government  released on it’s ‘Engage Victoria’ website a new Community Consultation regarding proposed legislative changes to the Public health act INCLUDING a whole section of proposed changes to the act in regards to the control of VECTOR-BORNE diseases. Submissions can be made until 5pm September the 30th.

The current legislation only allows for the control of Mosquito’s at the larval stage. The proposed legislation seeks to control Mosquito’s at all stages! That can only mean, lavacide, #fogging and residual sprays will become legislation under the health act.

The full consultation can be found here-

The section regarding Arborvirus can be found here-

What dangers does this poisoning program pose to pollinators, fauna and public health?

Please individuals , groups, business’s and Councils make submissions.

There are healthier and kinder ways of interfering with mosquitoes populations like removing stagnant water and building micro bat nesting boxes.

The reckless risky toxic program happens at a time when insects populations globally are plummeting.

I urge everyone to make a formal submission on this matter on the Engage Victoria Website. Our rights will be diminished. We will have no say on where or what will be sprayed not only on council land but not on our own properties either. We can be legislatively FORCED to have fogging and residual spraying on our properties. And this can occur on a perceived threat, a potential threat as well as a proven threat. It scares the hell out of me as the consequences will greatly impact the environment, all creatures living within, our own health and the health of our children.
