As individuals who have personally experienced the emotional hardship and conflict that can ensue when access to a child is denied despite fulfilling child support obligations, we understand the significance of this issue. We want to ensure that every parent is granted a fair opportunity to be part of the child's life when child support is established.

According to the 'Child's Rights Council,' children who have a solid relationship with both parents are more likely to have better emotional, physical, and academic well-being. Despite that, the same rights aren't given to every parent due to gaps in our legislation. Currently, the process for establishing visitation rights is separate from establishing child support, creating unnecessary roadblocks for parents who want to remain part of their children's lives.

We urge the lawmakers to revisit this process and implement laws that automatically establish visitation rights when child support is established. This will protect the rights of parents fulfilling their financial obligations and promote the well-being of our children by ensuring they have a meaningful relationship with both parents.
