The Issue

As an American citizen, born and raised in the United States, I have always believed in the values of freedom, justice, and humanity for all. Today, I am deeply concerned not just for my own children, but for all the children of America who are exposed to the distressing actions carried out by some ICE agents. It is utterly shocking and disheartening to see these young, impressionable minds witness behavior that can only be described as aggressive and abusive. Our children deserve to grow up in an environment where they feel safe, secure, and respected, irrespective of their background or heritage. Unfortunately, the actions of some ICE agents are directly countering these basic rights. Instances have been reported where children have witnessed acts of forceful detainment and verbal assaults against individuals, fundamentally stripping away their innocence and childhood joy. According to a report by the American Immigration Council, there have been multiple allegations against ICE for misconduct, including 1,224 incidents between 2010 and 2017 as noted by the Office of Inspector General. These numbers signify a disturbing trend, deeply affecting not just the victims but also the onlookers—our children—who are left to make sense of such behavior. This petition calls for urgent reforms in ICE policies to ensure the humane treatment of individuals in their custody and to protect children from being exposed to such harmful environments. We propose mandatory training for ICE agents on humane and respectful engagement, implementation of strict oversight mechanisms, and immediate suspension of any officer found guilty of abusive behavior. Let's unite as a community to demand these necessary changes for the sake of our children's well-being and the fundamental values our nation stands for. Sign this petition to protect the children of America from witnessing the distressing behaviors of some ICE agents. Together, we can create a safer, more compassionate society for our future generations.
