Thank you for contacting councilman Nettles. We have been made aware of the concern for traffic signage and flashers to be installed at Trinity Basin Preparatory. Trinity Basin Preparatory is currently in the process of an expansion. The school zone would need to be implemented by the school as a part of their expansion. The City’s Development Services Department has been in communication with the school’s engineer regarding the expansion.

The City is also engaging with TxDOT for school zone requirements along Crowley Rd. TxDOT ultimately will determine if the school zone would be allowed as an exception, as it does not meet the standard criteria required for school zone implementation. If they will allow the school zone to be implemented, we are asking if they will allow for the regular school flashers to be installed now as an interim resolution in lieu of an overhead flasher, which is the overall flasher recommendation.

We will provide additional feedback once an update has been received from TxDOT on this matter. In the meantime I will advise councilman Nettles of your meeting request and get right back to you.
