Implement Traffic Calming Measures on High Lane, Haslemere

Implement Traffic Calming Measures on High Lane, Haslemere
The Issue
Every day, I worry about the safety of my young children on High Lane in Haslemere. As a concerned resident and parent, the fear becomes palpable every time I watch reckless drivers speed past, seemingly indifferent to the children walking to school or the elderly crossing the street. The bustling traffic, including large articulated lorries, transforms our neighborhood into a danger zone, where vehicles frequently collide and create hazardous congestion.
It isn't just the congestion that alarms us; it’s the consistent display of anti-social driving behavior that threatens the peace and safety of our community. This erratic speeding and frequent accidents put everyone at risk and are unacceptable, especially in an area with a school and many family residences.
Imagine the terror of not feeling safe enough to let your own teenage child step out of the car. This is my daily reality, and it's a reality I share with many other worried parents in High Lane. My anxiety extends to my elderly parents, who visit regularly. I can't ignore the nagging thought of what could happen if we don't act now to address this dire situation.
Despite repeated incidents, no effective action has been taken to mitigate the dangers on High Lane. We need immediate solutions to this ongoing problem. We are calling on the local council to implement traffic calming measures urgently. Options like installing speed bumps, increasing signage, and employing traffic wardens during peak hours could significantly reduce speeding and enhance pedestrian safety.
The time for action is now. We cannot allow the perilous driving conditions on High Lane to continue. Stand with us and demand that the local authorities implement necessary traffic measures to protect our children, our elderly, and our community.
Please sign this petition to urge the Haslemere council to prioritize our safety and make High Lane a safe place for all our residents.
