As a resident of the Bryn Mawr neighborhood in Orlando, my personal safety has been negatively impacted due to the alarming increase in traffic and speeding on our streets, particularly Ashford Blvd. I do not feel safe walking or riding my bicycle, and I am not alone in my fears. Over recent years, more and more vehicles have been using Ashford Blvd as a shortcut, exacerbating the issue and creating an unsafe environment for us all.

Despite our repeated pleas, the City of Orlando has not taken adequate measures to address this growing concern. Our neighborhood needs crosswalks, speed bumps, and other deterrents against speeders and reckless drivers to maintain safety and security for children, pedestrians, and cyclists.

According to the World Health Organization, well-designed speed bumps reduce fatalities by approximately 45%. Crosswalks, too, significantly reduce pedestrian-vehicle collisions. It's high time our local government followed suit to ensure that our streets become safer.

Increasing road safety is a matter of urgency. Safety is a right, not a privilege. Act now. It’s time for action and dedication to make Bryn Mawr a safer place to live. We call upon you, the City of Orlando, to implement these necessary traffic-calming measures.
