As a resident of Annick Grange, I am deeply concerned about the safety of our streets. Almost every house in this estate has either a child or a pet, and with the speed at which some drivers navigate our roads, it is a serious worry for us all. It's not just delivery drivers who speed up and down our streets - it's everyday motorists too. We all deserve to feel safe when walking or playing outside, especially given that most of the estate doesn’t have pavements.

According to data from RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents), traffic calming measures can reduce accidents by up to 60%. This includes measures such as speed humps, chicanes, priority narrowing and more. These are simple yet effective solutions that could drastically improve safety in our neighbourhood.

We need local authorities to take action now before any more lives are put at risk. We urge them to implement traffic calming measures throughout our estate immediately – not only will this protect children playing and residents walking through the streets but also pets who call this place home.
