As a resident of the vibrant community of Greentrees North Southfield, MI, I am deeply concerned about the rampant speeding on our neighborhood streets. Our community is home to many families, and ensuring the safety of our children and pets is of paramount importance to me.

Speeding vehicles not only pose a grave risk to the young ones playing in front yards and biking down the streets, but they also endanger our beloved pets who may wander onto the road. The peace and sanctuary that our neighborhood should offer is often overshadowed by the anxiety caused by reckless drivers.

Statistically, over 30% of vehicles exceed speed limits in residential areas, leading to increased accident rates and fatalities. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), speed is a major factor in 26% of all traffic fatalities. We cannot allow Southfield to be part of this statistic any longer.

To combat this danger, I propose the implementation of traffic calming measures in our neighborhood.
