Implement the Use of Silent Fireworks in Carmarthen's Annual Display

The Issue

As a local of Carmarthen and a regular attendee of the city's beloved annual fireworks display, I've noticed an opportunity for us to make a difference to the wellbeing of our community and environment. The introduction of silent fireworks into the display can offer us many benefits.

Firstly, silent fireworks are an environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional ones we're used to. They produce significantly less air and noise pollution, which means the show has a smaller carbon footprint. This is a change that aligns directly with the increasing global awareness of environmental conservation.

Furthermore, the reduction in noise would be a considerate gesture towards local wildlife and our pets, who sadly get frightened by the loud explosions. Studies have shown that fireworks often induce fear and stress in our pets and can lead to changes in wildlife's behaviour.

Let us not forget the individuals with auditory sensitivities within our community, for whom the silent display would mean a much more inclusive celebration.

By endorsing the switch to silent fireworks, Carmarthen can stand at the forefront of progressive, environmentally friendly, and considerate community practices, laying out a path for others to follow. So, let's make our beloved annual firework display more friendly for everyone involved and for the environment as well.

Update: Apparently we're not alone. The RSPCA recently launched their kind sparks campaign, attempting to help people keep animals in mind when cosidering fireworks and displays and make one change to help, nd 15 councils in Wales have already agreed to join
