Implement the Supreme Court’s Directions on Stray Dogs in Thane

Protect the safety of residents, children and senior citizens of Thane
We, the residents of Thane, urge the Maharashtra Government and Thane Municipal Corporation to strictly and effectively implement the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court regarding stray dogs and public safety.

Residents across Thane continue to face concerns arising from stray dogs in residential areas, near schools, hospitals, playgrounds, temples, parks, railway stations, bus stops and other public spaces. Children, senior citizens and pedestrians are particularly vulnerable to dog attacks and accidents caused by dogs on roads.

We therefore request the authorities to take immediate, effective and time-bound action in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions and the applicable Animal Birth Control Rules.

Our Demands
Strict implementation of the Supreme Court’s directions in Thane.
Removal of stray dogs from schools, hospitals, playgrounds, temples, railway stations, bus depots and other locations covered by the Court’s directions.
Proper sterilisation and vaccination through an effective and transparent system.
Adequate designated shelters and infrastructure as required by law.
Proper regulation of feeding of stray dogs in public places.
A responsive municipal helpline for reporting dog attacks, aggressive dogs and violations.
Regular publication of data on sterilisation, vaccination, complaints and action taken.
Time-bound accountability of officials responsible for implementation.
This petition is not against animals. It is for a humane, lawful and scientifically managed system that protects both citizens and animals.

We appeal to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Municipal Commissioner, TMC to intervene urgently and ensure that the Supreme Court’s directions are implemented effectively across Thane.

How many more incidents must occur before effective action is taken?

We demand immediate action for a safer Thane.
