Implement the AP Capstone Program in CFISD's Curriculum
The Issue
As a student striving for excellence in Cypress, TX, I have always valued the importance of a well-rounded education. I believe that every bright mind should have access to resources that will help them develop core skills for college and beyond. One such resource is the AP Capstone program, which includes AP Research and AP Seminar classes.
The College Board describes the AP Capstone as an innovative diploma program that equips students with independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills which are increasingly valued by colleges. It is currently offered in more than 1,500 schools worldwide but sadly not yet part of our CFISD curriculum.
The addition of this program would provide students like myself with opportunities to explore topics they're passionate about while developing critical thinking skills. According to a report from The College Board (2019), students who participate in the AP Capstone program are more likely than their peers to graduate within four years and feel better prepared for college-level work.
By integrating this program into our curriculum, we can ensure that all motivated learners have access to these valuable courses regardless of their background or future aspirations. This isn't just about adding another class; it's about providing equal opportunities for academic growth and preparing us all for success beyond high school.
Please join me in urging CFISD to implement the AP Capstone Program into its curriculum. Your signature can make a difference in providing an enriched educational experience for all students here at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Sign this petition today!
