Driven by my personal concern over the recent events in our nation, I, along with countless other citizens, have witnessed a concerning display of political bias among senior justices. Over the past 20 years, the disrespectful disregard for the democratic essence of the Supreme Court has never been as noticeable as in these past 6 months. It's high time we addressed this issue head-on.

Our Supreme Court justices, who are endowed with lifetime appointments, are behaving as if they are invincible, ignoring their sacred duty of maintaining democracy. The basis of their judgments is meant to be the rule of law, the backbone of our democratic society, not their political affiliations, lobbyist whispers, nor clandestine elbow rubbing with politicians. They are the bulwark of our democracy and ought to act accordingly.

Therefore, we plead for a robust reformation in the Supreme Court system. Firstly, we call for term limits for all justices; considering a time period of between 15 and 18 years. This will prevent unhealthy lifetime entitlement and mandate a continuous infusion of fresh perspectives.

Secondly, an overhaul of ethical guidelines applicable to justices is crucial. Correspondences should be documented to reveal the extent of lobbyist influence, a mandate for reporting anything and everything that could be construed as a 'gift', and a complete prohibition of any type of 'bribe' and 'gratitude' should be brought into effect. The integrity of our Supreme Court relies on its independence and its resistance to all forms of corruption and undue influence.

Lastly, definitive impeachment guidelines need to be established to ensure that justices who fail to uphold their office's dignity and responsibility can be effectively removed.

Transforming the judiciary into a more transparent, independent, and trustworthy institution is absolutely vital for the times we face.
