I am a resident of Mt Sterling, KY and I live on an avenue that has become increasingly dangerous due to speeding traffic. Every day, I walk my grandson in his stroller along this street. We have pets that roam our yard and there are numerous young children in the area who walk and ride their bikes nearby. It is not safe for them to be close to the streets as vehicles speed by without any regard for speed limits or safety measures.

Unfortunately, this issue is not unique to our community. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), speeding was a contributing factor in 26% of all traffic fatalities in 2017, costing lives of over 9,700 people across the country. This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for stricter traffic control measures and increased law enforcement presence on our streets.

Our community deserves better than living under constant fear while simply going about daily activities such as walking or playing outside. We urge local authorities in Mt Sterling to take immediate action by implementing stricter traffic controls and ensuring regular law enforcement presence on our roads.
