Implement Stricter Regulations on Backyard Breeders

Implement Stricter Regulations on Backyard Breeders
The Issue
Our hearts were shattered when we were forced to make the harrowing decision to put our beloved crossbreed to sleep, a Belgian Malinois x American Bulldog, being young naive owners we knew nothing of what these two breeds put together could do but the people who did know was the breeders. backyard breeders cross breeds like this for one cruel purpose - to fight. We know this as we tried everything, training, residential training with the highest professional trainers. Being young and naive the breeders saw through us and knew they were in for some easy money. The mother was seemingly aggressive and the father misrepresented (as the well experienced trainer made us known that he was not only an American bulldog but an XL bulldog) but still they were allowed to breed, in conditions we now know to be far from ideal. We aim to prevent others from experiencing our heartbreaking journey.
Every year, countless unsuspecting buyers endure a similar experience, not fully aware of the dogs' breeding backgrounds. According to the Humane Society, an estimated 90% of puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills, often a synonym for unregulated backyard breeders. This issue extends beyond our personal tragic experience, constituting a major animal welfare concern on a grand scale.
That's why this petition seeks to enforce stricter regulations on all breeders. We call on lawmakers to require that breeders be approved by a recognized Kennel Club, providing certified evidence of compliance with high standard breeding practices. This should be mandated when advertising online, as well as proper identification.
Whilst we understand that dogs do mate, and puppies come as a result, we want there to be a stricter process for sellers, especially through websites such as pets for homes, for true verification on all sales ensuring that dogs have to be registered from birth resulting in fewer instances of what we have been through. Dogs should not be a means for someone to make easy money. Cross breads pose real problems and no one knows what the dog they are buying will turn out to be and ensuring that disclosures are in place so no one buys a dog that poses significant risk to the public.
Through these measures, we can ensure that every puppy comes from a safe, healthy environment, and not from the inhumane conditions commonly associated with backyard breeding. By signing this petition, you are advocating for the ethical treatment and the welfare of dogs, and bringing us one step closer to preventing such tragedies.
Please help us make a difference by signing our petition.
