The Issue

This petition is driven by a personal tragedy - the loss of our dear friend, Megan Forbes,a veteran who was taken all too soon. On 20th of April 2025, Megan was hit by a driver who ran a stop sign, leaving her laying on the scene without rendering aid. Her friends and family had to bear the painful news of her death at the hospital— and now, they are left to mourn the loss of their loved one. The driver, though on scene, did not think to check on the rider they hit, and is now facing vehicular homicide charges, still yet to be convicted.

This devastating incident could have easily been prevented if the motorist had given another glance to look for motorcyclists before proceeding. In the U.S alone, motorcyclists are 27 times more likely to die in a road crash than the occupants of a car, according to an analysis by the Insurance Information Institute. The time is now to fight for our right to ride safely on the roads. This is not only about fighting injustice for Megan and her family; it is about ensuring no other families have to grieve needlessly due to the negligence of motor vehicle drivers.

We are therefore demanding stricter enforcement of laws and penalties against motorists failing to ensure the safety of motorcyclists. The authorities must ensure that severe punishments are put in place for those who fail to look twice for motorcyclists on the road, and for those failing to render aid in the event of an accident.

Join us in making a stand and creating awareness of the drastic need for change. Please sign and share this petition, making the roar of our engines and the power of our voices heard loud and clear. Your signature could help prevent another tragic loss like Megan’s. Don't wait, sign this petition today.
