Implement Stricter Penalties for Animal Cruelty Offenders

Implement Stricter Penalties for Animal Cruelty Offenders
The Issue
As someone who has always had dogs, I understand that they are not just pets, but living beings.
The government has implemented a ban recently on XL bullys and have not even considered the amount of cruelty and neglect that occurs as a result.
Animal rescues nationwide put in strict protocols to ensure animas are going to the right homes and that the animals welfare is of top priority.
But this abuse still happens and I believe stricter penalties on animal abusers would decrease.these figures.
Animals are used in medical assistance, crime , crowd control, finding drugs, finding people, protection , therapy for children, mental conditions and dementia patients, and much more . They deserve to be protected.
A well known UK news story reached headlines some years ago when a police dog named Finn got stabbed and nearly died when protecting his handler . If finn did not take the knife his handler Dave Wardell would most likely of been killed . This resulted in a similar petition that went ro parliament and rhe was changed enforcing stricter penalties on criminals who harmed a police dog . Up until this changed , police dogs were viewed as property and not a living being .
This should now be across the board and stricter penalties to any animal harmed through the hands of cruelty .
If somebody can willingly harm an animal, they are likely to harm a human , therefore its in all of our interests to enforce this change in the law .
This petition seeks to address this issue by advocating for stricter penalties for individuals found guilty of animal cruelty.
According to a recent report by the RSPCA, there were over 81,000 incidents of abandoned or stray animals in the UK in 2020 alone, a 15% increase from the previous year.. The animal abuse and neglect numbers are expected to rise each year and had now become a national animal abandonment crisis . These figures demonstrate a dire need for more stringent laws and harsher punishments to deter potential offenders and protect our innocent creatures.
We urge lawmakers to consider these facts when drafting legislation related to animal welfare. By imposing tougher penalties, we can send a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our society.
Please sign this petition if you believe in justice for all living beings and want to see an end to animal suffering caused by human hands.
