Animal abuse is a serious offense and its prevalence in society is alarming. It's high time for legislation to reflect the severity of this issue. Our demand is two-fold: Instigate lifetime bans for those found guilty of animal cruelty, preventing them from owning pets again and introduce harsher prison sentences as a poignant deterrent to potential offenders. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 1.5 million animals are victims of abuse each year. This is 1.5 million too many. Now is the time to take action. We must demand better for animals who, without us, have no voice.
